As most people move, they usually remember to fill out a Change
of Address card at the local post office, so that all mail going to
their old address gets forwarded to their new address. The post office
hangs on the this information for 2 years and it's available to anybody
off the street who asks for it. You can ask for it by phone, in person
or by US mail. Considering today's gas prices and long lines at the
post office, you're much better off doing it by phone or mail.
If your not in a big hurry to obtain the address, an easy way to
do this for the price of a postage stamp is to simply mail a letter
or postcard to the person's old address marked in all caps DO
NOT FORWARD - FORWARDING ADDRESS REQUESTED and mail it off.
The US post office will then put the correct address on it and kick
it back to you. Don't forget to put your return address on it!
If the person happens to be using a PO Box for all their mail, the
Post Office won't give you the person's home address, but at the same
time, if PO Box number is being used for a business, then the post
office will then give out the business owners home address to
anyone who asks for it.
What ever you do, don't even think about attempting any fake anthrax
(foot powder) pranks or practical jokes, especially in Florida. That
can get you into serious trouble and land you in jail as a 2nd Degree
Felon and a "convicted terrorist."
